The Rotary Club of Winnipeg West acknowledges that our meetings, held virtually or in-person, are held on Treaty One lands. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Inuit, Metis, and First Nations Peoples and their cultures and rights.
We recognize that the clean water we are drinking is sourced from the Shoal Lake 40 First Nation.

If I Were Mayor
Today's program was a round table discussion and opportunity for all individuals to address the group by answering the question “If I Were Mayor, I Would …..”.
Some serious, and some humorous thoughts were shared.

The best comment …. probably goes to John Unger. If he were mayor he would mandate frequent haircuts for all citizens.

"Fantastically Funny Chicken Jokes just appeared on the Westwind Best Seller List. Your book page editor received a complementary copy. Our reviewer opines: the title of this tome should have been fantastically dumb chicken jokes. The book’s only redeeming feature is that it takes five minutes to read. Here is the best joke in the book and from that you will appreciate how really dumb the rest are.
Why does a chicken coop have two doors?
Because if it had four it would be a chicken sedan.

Bites 'N Banter - Sept. 10
On Thursday, September 10, our informal Bites 'N Banter meeting will be held at the River City Sports Bar, right next to our regular meeting space. Drop in for lunch, have a bite and some friendly banter in an informal atmosphere.

Family of Rotary
As noted in our earlier email, we were very sad to learn of the passing of Honourary Rotarian Brian Crabbe. Brian was a long time RCWW member, serving as president 1989-1990 and a Paul Harris Fellow. Brian was in charge of the ChickenFest Take-Out service at our annual ChickenFest fund-raiser for many years.
Brian's obituary was in last Saturday's Winnipeg Free Press
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through the Winnipeg Foundation to the Curling for Life Endowment Fund or Winnipeg West Rotary Club Golden Rainbow Fund.

Thought(s) For The Day - Bob's Words of Wisdom
The first SHIT Award at our ChickenFest Wind-up was given to Bob Foster for attempting to do Foghorn & Panchito’s job of Chicken Jokes & recognizing that Bob's jokes really needed some work to avoid laying any more eggs. Bob was presented with his very own book of Chicken Jokes.
After reviewing the book (see above article) Bob's words of wisdom this week are:
"Instead of my usual plagiarized words of wisdom, here is an absolutely original thought. You may search all your AI sources, you will not find it.
